When the Department of Education shuts down or guts 58 schools in a single year, the public deserves to know what happens to students, especially the highest-needs students, when DOE closes their schools. Four reports in the past five years show that DOE is overloading these highest-needs students into struggling schools; today I stood with the Coalition for Educational Justice, New York Communities for Change, parents, and students to say this is completely unacceptable.
